My name is Malik from Houston, Texas. working on cars is my passion. in my spare time or my days off i work on my cars.
Recently working on 1998 Lexus GS400 having throttle issue. when i press the gas the car wont do anything until i hit the floor and it will pickup the accelerator. showed it to a diagnostic guy who advised to change the whole throttle body. i was arguing with him that throttle body itself i just a mechanical. The issue should be either in the sensors or ECM.
Maic, I have a '08 ford taurus (Ecm problems?) I've ordered a refurbished ecm from RockAuto. My plan is to replace mosfet(s) from new unit to repair old unit and avoid the need to reprogram the old ecm.
My hope is to be able to physically see the parts that are in need of replacement.
Let start with some questions you might have. I would like to see some of your own answers and then I will get to share some. Hope we can all help each others here with respect. Thank you again for been part of the forum.

Hello All, I am new to the forum and I am just starting out on a new venture here in the UK. I am looking to start my own buseness in repairing ECU's as part on retirement plan.
Hello my name is Phil and live in Miami FL. I have been working on cars as a hobby since I was 14 yrs old. I have been very interested in the GM ECU computer systems. I really got interested when diagnosing issues or figuring out system on my 1987 Buick Grand National. I would go to the library ( No Google at the time) to read up on what ever information I could find. I am hoping to expand and share my knowledge with this group.

I am trying to fault find my ECU
I have connected to Keep alive power 3J and the 3 grounds (2R 3A 3G)as per car workshop manual
I have diode tested (using a multimeter)all the transistors and capacitors and diodes
all the readings look OK eg no out of range figures
I have checked the sensor output voltages but only millivolts
I a wondering if the ECU is in sleep mode and it needs and input signal to get it started ?
